The Research Communication Lab is an innovative year- long, 11-part program designed to empower researchers with essential skills to navigate the scholarly publishing landscape and maximize the impact of their work. Open to all, the program features monthly live, interactive sessions held twice a day, complemented by pre-recorded content for flexible learning. Participants will gain practical knowledge across diverse topics, from mastering academic writing and peer reviewing to navigating publishing ethics, research data management, and leveraging social media for research visibility.

2. Choosing a quality journal for your work

3. Fundamentals of research integrity & publishing ethics

This workshop explores research integrity and publishing ethics, addressing common issues like authorship, AI use, and post-publication notices. Participants will understand ethical practices, avoid submission issues, and learn acceptable AI uses in scholarly publishing.

4. Research integrity & publishing ethics: Applied learning

5. Mastering academic article writing: From concept to publication

This session focuses on preparing datasets for sharing, best practices for repositories, and writing Data Availability Statements. Participants will learn ethical and legal aspects of data sharing and strategies for handling sensitive data.

8. Open research & the future of publishing

This course explores open research models, their adoption by stakeholders, and their impact on publishing workflows. Participants will learn ethical considerations and practices for engaging in open science and speculate on future publishing trends.

9. Increasing the real-world impact of your research

10. Smart sharing – Navigating social media as a researcher

This course helps researchers define social media goals, select platforms, and develop effective strategies. Participants will learn community management, impact measurement, and how to avoid common pitfalls in social media use.

11. Creating a book proposal

This workshop guides participants in shaping book ideas, completing proposal templates, and navigating the review process. Attendees will draft a proposal, learn tips for success, and explore open access options for academic book publishing.

End-of-year quiz and certification information

A quiz will be posted at the end of the year to assess your learning and engagement. Here’s what you need to know:

Certificate of Completion: If you attend all sessions and successfully complete the quiz with a score of 80% or higher, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. This certificate recognizes your dedication and mastery of the material covered throughout the program.
Certificate of Attendance: For those who attend individual webinars, a Certificate of Attendance will be provided. This certificate acknowledges your participation in the specific session(s) you attended.
